Also, if you’ve reached age 72, you generally must start taking withdrawals from your qualified retirement plan. Your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) will be reported as taxable income except for any part that was taxed before (your basis) or that can be received tax-free (such as qualified distributions from designated Roth accounts) so be sure to include that information on your return, if applicable.
